As the New Year approaches, we wanted to make you aware of a few things that relate to both corporate and personal taxes.
The deadline for filing Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan forgiveness is 12/31/2021.
If in 2021 you filed and received the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) based on 2020 wages paid, we will need to amend your 2020 business and personal tax returns. If you did apply for the ERTC credit in 2021, please provide us with the amended Form 941s that were prepared in conjunction with the credit.
When you drop off or upload your tax documents, you will be asked to sign a service agreement confirming your desire for us to prepare your tax return. This is being required for insurance purposes. Also, you will need to fill out a short questionnaire that will require the following information:
- Stimulus #3 amount received
- Charitable cash contributions made in 2021
- If you received Advance Child Tax Credit Payments and if so, the amount you received. You will be receiving Letter 6419 from the IRS in January of 2022 providing the total amount of advance Child Tax Credit payments that were disbursed to you during 2021. Please provide us with a copy of this letter.
- Yes or No to the question, “At any time during 2021, did you receive, sell, exchange, or otherwise dispose of any financial interest in any virtual currency?”
To reduce risk and keep our staff as healthy as possible so that they may take care of our clients’ needs, we are strongly encouraging either dropping off or uploading your tax documents to our secure client portal as opposed to in-person meetings. If you strongly feel you need an appointment, we can set up a zoom or phone call meeting.
